Strengthening Local Expertise for Sustainable Growth
SusNex Ltd has successfully completed an intensive capacity-building program that included GRI Certified courses, positioning the organization as a stronger local partner for sustainability transformation in Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector.
The PROGRESS Project
The training was facilitated through the PROGRESS project, a four-year initiative led by Swisscontact and funded jointly by Sweden and Switzerland. PROGRESS is designed to build a market-driven ecosystem of local technical consultancy providers who can deliver affordable, high-quality sustainability services to garment factories across Bangladesh.
Addressing a Critical Gap
A persistent challenge in Bangladesh's RMG sector has been the limited access of Tier-2 and Tier-3 factories to affordable technical support for sustainability compliance. Many smaller factories lack the resources to engage international consultancy firms, leaving them vulnerable to non-compliance with increasingly stringent buyer and regulatory requirements. The PROGRESS project directly addresses this gap by developing Local Technical Consultancy Providers (LTCPs) who can deliver tailored, cost-effective solutions.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) is a cornerstone of the PROGRESS project. The program has set an ambitious target of ensuring that 50% of trained consultants are women, recognizing that diverse teams deliver better outcomes and that the sustainability sector must reflect the inclusivity it advocates for.
Voices from the Program
Parveen Sultana Huda, Senior HR Expert at SusNex, shared her experience: "We are deeply grateful to Swisscontact for this opportunity. The GRI Certified training has significantly enhanced our technical capabilities and given us the tools to support factories in their sustainability journey with greater confidence and credibility."
Ready to Partner
With the completion of this program, SusNex is now fully prepared to partner with RMG factories across Bangladesh — from large export-oriented facilities to smaller Tier-2 and Tier-3 suppliers — in developing sustainability strategies, implementing GRI-aligned reporting frameworks, and meeting the evolving expectations of international buyers and regulators.
