SusNex Ltd completes advanced training to boost green growth and productivity in Bangladesh’s RMG sector

SusNex Ltd has successfully completed the intensive capacity-building program, including the globally recognized GRI Certified courses, aimed at enhancing sustainability within Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. This training positions SusNex Ltd as a key local partner for factories striving to meet international Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

The training was facilitated by the PROGRESS project, a four-year program implemented by Swisscontact and funded by Embassy of Sweden and Embassy of Switzerland. One of the key focus area of the project is to address a critical industry challenge: the limited access for many small and medium-sized (Tier-2 and Tier-3) factories to affordable, high-quality technical support for improving green skills and productivity. While larger factories can often hire costly international consultants, smaller enterprises have struggled to keep pace, creating a compliance and productivity gap.

The PROGRESS project aims to close this gap by developing a robust network of Local Technical Consultancy Providers (LTCPs), through SusNex Ltd, equipped with global expertise tailored to the local context.

A Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

A cornerstone of the PROGRESS project is its deep commitment to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). The initiative is designed not only to advance the industry but also to empower its majority-female workforce. The project has a specific goal to improve the technical green skills of women. Furthermore, the LTCP training program itself champions female participation, with 50% women consultants. By enhancing skills and ensuring women are active participants and leaders in this green transition, the project directly contributes to their income growth and professional advancement within the sector.

Parveen Sultana Huda, a Senior HR Expert, stated, “We are immensely grateful to Swisscontact and the PROGRESS project for this opportunity. The skills we have gained are vital for the future of our RMG sector. We are now in a stronger position to provide practical, affordable solutions to local factories, helping them become more sustainable and competitive. We are particularly proud to be part of an initiative that places such a strong emphasis on empowering women, who are the backbone of this industry.”

By successfully completing this training, SusNex is now prepared to partner with RMG factories to implement sustainable practices, improve productivity, and enhance their social and environmental compliance, ultimately strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global market.
